cold-water-splash awake

3 oils · Citrus · Herbal · Minty · code BL-1317

As awake as if someone splashed a glass of cold water in your face, but much more pleasant. Three drops each of peppermint and lime pop up together, cool and sharply tart; eucalyptus chases after them to make the air feel open and spacious. Use it in the bathroom in the morning, or at the office after lunch. Don't use it right before bed, and cut back the eucalyptus if there are young children in the room.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); lime (zesty, gently tart and very fresh); eucalyptus (strong, cool and wide open) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Peppermint 3 · Lime 3 · Eucalyptus 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Peppermint 2 · Lime 2 · Eucalyptus 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Peppermint 11 · Lime 11 · Eucalyptus 8 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Lime can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use cold-water-splash awake in a diffuser?
Add Peppermint 3 · Lime 3 · Eucalyptus 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of peppermint?
Swap peppermint for spearmint — same minty family. The blend will shift a little: spearmint is sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum.
When is the best time to use cold-water-splash awake?
Best in the morning, early afternoon, or right after a nap; avoid using it close to bedtime.
