Cedarwood makes up most of it, giving a solid dry wood base; star anise follows sweet and spicy like Christmas gingerbread; rosemary adds a touch of sharp green. A big-batch recipe to mix once and use all of December. Each evening, take 5 drops for the living room diffuser as you light up the tree; for a spicier scent, add 3 more drops of star anise.

On opening. Rosemary (cool, green, herbal and invigorating) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Star anise (sweet and warm, reminiscent of pho broth and Tet sweets) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.
What remains. Cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
