before the speaking test

3 oils · Minty · Woody · code BL-1140

Your turn in the speaking test is coming up, and you need a clear voice and a clear head. Three drops of peppermint open with an instant chill, two drops of cypress add fresh needles, and one drop of juniper leaves a green, resinous streak like a forest breeze. Great for your own room while you practice speaking in front of the mirror in the morning. If your hands are shaking, add a drop of lavender and take five deep breaths.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood); juniper (green and berry-like, with clean resinous wood) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Peppermint 3 · Cypress 2 · Juniper 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Peppermint 2 · Cypress 2 · Juniper 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Peppermint 15 · Cypress 10 · Juniper 5 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use before the speaking test in a diffuser?
Add Peppermint 3 · Cypress 2 · Juniper 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of peppermint?
Swap peppermint for spearmint — same minty family. The blend will shift a little: spearmint is sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum.
When is the best time to use before the speaking test?
Run it at your desk or study corner in cycles of 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, so your nose does not tune the scent out.
