It's bedtime and the little one is still fussing; everyone is exhausted. Ten drops of lavender make a gentle purple floral base, and eight drops of bergamot add cool, slightly tea-like peel, simple and pleasant overall. Good for the living room during story time and bath time. With small children at home, use only about a third of the recipe, keep the diffuser out of reach, and switch it off before the baby falls asleep.

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
