scruffy but classy

4 oils · Floral · Woody · code BL-0148

Old jeans, faded sneakers, but the scent has to be classy. Patchouli and cypress share the main role equally, damp earth meeting green wood, rugged yet stylish; geranium adds a bit of floral, and sandalwood closes as smooth as cream. The blend suits a living room done in wood and leather. For more polish, raise sandalwood to 2 drops; for extra ruggedness, add 1 drop of patchouli.

How it unfolds

As it settles. Cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood); geranium (green and rosy, fresh and balanced) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet); sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Patchouli 2 · Cypress 2 · Geranium 1 · Sandalwood 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Patchouli 2 · Cypress 2 · Geranium 1 · Sandalwood 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Patchouli 10 · Cypress 10 · Geranium 5 · Sandalwood 5 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use scruffy but classy in a diffuser?
Add Patchouli 2 · Cypress 2 · Geranium 1 · Sandalwood 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of patchouli?
Swap patchouli for cedarwood or juniper — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use scruffy but classy?
Use it at the end of the day, on weekends, while reading or right after a shower — whenever you want everything to slow down a beat.
