rainy window daydreams

3 oils · Herbal · Woody · Resinous & sweet · code BL-1969

Four drops of patchouli, damp earth like a potted plant on the porch, three drops of sharp, clean tea tree and two drops of quiet, resinous frankincense. A pensive, slow scent, like sitting by the window thinking about things left unsaid. Great for a reading nook or journaling. Nine drops is right for the diffuser; add more frankincense if you want it warmer.

How it unfolds

On opening. Tea tree (green, medicinal and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet); frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Patchouli 4 · Tea Tree 3 · Frankincense 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Patchouli 2 · Tea Tree 2 · Frankincense 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Patchouli 13 · Tea Tree 10 · Frankincense 7 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use rainy window daydreams in a diffuser?
Add Patchouli 4 · Tea Tree 3 · Frankincense 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of patchouli?
Swap patchouli for cedarwood or sandalwood — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use rainy window daydreams?
Diffuse it in a room, or mix a roller to dab on your wrists (diluted in a carrier oil).
