Out to the garden for a handful of basil to toss into a salad. Lavender leads clean, while basil and lemon sit side by side, spicy-sweet green basil meeting fresh lemon peel, and a drop of clary sage adds warm herb. The scent is fresh and green like a morning garden, great for the kitchen or balcony. For a standard diffuser, use the recipe as is; for a fresher lift, add 1 drop of lemon.

On opening. Lemon (fresh, bright and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); basil (sweet and green with a hint of anise); clary sage (sweet, herbal, slightly musky and unhurried) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Lemon can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
