Blend recipes · Summer fresh

long soak on a muggy day

5 oils · Citrus · Floral · Herbal · Woody · code BL-2963

Lavender leads the way into the tub, soft and gentle. Bergamot and lime form a bright, fresh layer, while cypress and cajeput keep things green and airy, as if you were soaking in the middle of a paperbark forest. Great for an evening bath or a bathroom with a small window. Start the diffuser about five minutes before running the water so the warm air helps the scent spread evenly.

How it unfolds

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style); lime (zesty, gently tart and very fresh); cajeput (cool yet warm, and very familiar) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Bergamot and Lime can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use long soak on a muggy day in a diffuser?
Add Lavender 3 · Bergamot 2 · Lime 2 · Cypress 1 · Cajeput 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of lavender?
Swap lavender for geranium or ylang ylang — same floral family. The blend will shift a little: geranium is green and rosy, fresh and balanced.
When is the best time to use long soak on a muggy day?
Use it at midday, in hot rooms, or after coming in from outside; you can also mix a room spray for a quick cool-down.
