The final draft: fix a thing here, a thing there, then send it off. Three drops of rosemary lead green and sharp, two drops of peppermint add icy coolness, and two drops of basil bring a sweet, peppery note like freshly picked leaves. Great for a writing desk in the morning or late afternoon. If it feels too sharp, add a drop of frankincense to mellow it out.

On opening. Rosemary (cool, green, herbal and invigorating); peppermint (cool, sharp and clean) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Basil (sweet and green with a hint of anise) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
