Blend recipes · Cozy & warm

dad's always up first

5 oils · Citrus · Woody · Resinous & sweet · code BL-2661

Cedarwood and sweet orange are equal up top, dry wood meeting fresh orange like the early pot of tea dad makes; myrrh, frankincense and juniper settle into a warm, deep layer of resin and needles. A grown-up, peaceful scent for the living room on winter mornings. Start the diffuser at 6 in the morning; for a fresher version, add 1 drop of sweet orange.

How it unfolds

On opening. Sweet orange (ripe, sweet, cheerful and round) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Juniper (green and berry-like, with clean resinous wood) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. Cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings); myrrh (bittersweet, resinous, deep and classic); frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

FAQ

How do I use dad's always up first in a diffuser?
Add Cedarwood 2 · Sweet Orange 2 · Myrrh 1 · Frankincense 1 · Juniper 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of cedarwood?
Swap cedarwood for sandalwood or patchouli — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: sandalwood is creamy, smooth and long-lasting.
When is the best time to use dad's always up first?
Made for chilly days, cold rain, Tet (the Lunar New Year) and Christmas; use it in the living room or bedroom.
