cut yourself some slack

3 oils · Citrus · Woody · code BL-0952

Cut yourself some slack; you don't need to be perfect all the time. Patchouli, cypress, and bergamot share two drops each: deep, damp earth, cool needles, and bright citrus. This blend suits an evening after a day full of small mistakes. Tip: start the diffuser and write down three things you did well today, no matter how small.

How it unfolds

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Patchouli 2 · Cypress 2 · Bergamot 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Patchouli 2 · Cypress 2 · Bergamot 2 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Patchouli 10 · Cypress 10 · Bergamot 10 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use cut yourself some slack in a diffuser?
Add Patchouli 2 · Cypress 2 · Bergamot 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of patchouli?
Swap patchouli for cedarwood or sandalwood — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use cut yourself some slack?
Use it while meditating, doing yoga, journaling, or simply sitting still for 10 minutes without your phone.
