Blend recipes · Cozy & warm

around the wood stove

4 oils · Woody · Resinous & sweet · code BL-2739

Frankincense and cedarwood split it evenly, resin meeting dry wood, like wood-stove smoke curling under the roof; sandalwood and patchouli, a drop each, bring smooth warmth and damp earth. The rustic scent of a countryside kitchen in winter. Good for the living room or dining room on cold evenings. Right after dinner is best; for more depth, add 1 drop of frankincense.

How it unfolds

What remains. Frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still); cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings); sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting); patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Frankincense 2 · Cedarwood 2 · Sandalwood 1 · Patchouli 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Frankincense 2 · Cedarwood 2 · Sandalwood 1 · Patchouli 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Frankincense 10 · Cedarwood 10 · Sandalwood 5 · Patchouli 5 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use around the wood stove in a diffuser?
Add Frankincense 2 · Cedarwood 2 · Sandalwood 1 · Patchouli 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of frankincense?
Swap frankincense for vanilla or myrrh — same resinous & sweet family. The blend will shift a little: vanilla is creamy, sweet and cozy.
When is the best time to use around the wood stove?
Made for chilly days, cold rain, Tet (the Lunar New Year) and Christmas; use it in the living room or bedroom.
