Blend recipes · Energy & alertness
A seven o'clock class on a Saturday morning, while the rest of the world is still asleep. Five drops of spearmint open sweet and cool, and three drops each of basil and lemongrass add a spicy-sweet note and zesty freshness. That ratio is a lot for one go, so mix it in a bottle and use five drops at a time. Good for the bedroom while you get ready; switch it on the moment you silence the alarm.

On opening. Spearmint (sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum); lemongrass (fresh, green and clean) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Basil (sweet and green with a hint of anise) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Lemongrass can irritate skin — dilute well and patch-test on a small area first.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
