1-Dodecanal is a long-chain aldehyde widely used in perfumery, particularly for orange-blossom and soapy notes.

Skin. A 5 percent patch test on 25 volunteers produced no sensitization.

Oral and dermal. Acute oral LD50 in rats is 23.1 g/kg, a very high value. Acute dermal LD50 in rabbits exceeds 2 g/kg.
