temple incense at dawn

3 oils · Herbal · Woody · Resinous & sweet · code BL-3300

Deep wood and camphor; serene as a temple courtyard.

Visiting the pagoda at the start of the lunar month: deep sandalwood leads, frankincense is fragrant and resinous, and a drop of cool camphor makes it feel as serene as a temple courtyard. Great for a meditation corner, a home altar or a prayer room. Start the diffuser when you light incense or sit down to quiet your mind; in a small room, skip the camphor for a softer scent.

How it unfolds

On opening. Camphor (icy, strong and clean) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

What remains. Sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting); frankincense (resinous with a light lemony note, deep and still) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Sandalwood 3 · Frankincense 2 · Camphor 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Sandalwood 2 · Frankincense 2 · Camphor 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Sandalwood 15 · Frankincense 10 · Camphor 5 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use temple incense at dawn in a diffuser?
Add Sandalwood 3 · Frankincense 2 · Camphor 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of sandalwood?
Swap sandalwood for cedarwood or patchouli — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use temple incense at dawn?
Use it while meditating, doing yoga, journaling, or simply sitting still for 10 minutes without your phone.
