leaving a trail behind

4 oils · Citrus · Floral · Woody · code BL-1959

Cool, soft lavender, fresh pink geranium, warm, smooth sandalwood and a drop of bergamot create a scent that drifts by casually, making passersby turn around without knowing why. Effortless, yet still lovely. Great in a roller bottle for work or a stroll. Mix the ten drops in a 10 ml bottle; add more geranium if you want the scent more noticeable.

How it unfolds

On opening. Bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); geranium (green and rosy, fresh and balanced) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. Sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Lavender 4 · Geranium 3 · Sandalwood 2 · Bergamot 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Lavender 2 · Geranium 2 · Sandalwood 1 · Bergamot 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Lavender 12 · Geranium 9 · Sandalwood 6 · Bergamot 3 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

FAQ

How do I use leaving a trail behind in a diffuser?
Add Lavender 4 · Geranium 3 · Sandalwood 2 · Bergamot 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of lavender?
Swap lavender for ylang ylang or Roman chamomile — same floral family. The blend will shift a little: ylang ylang is rich, creamy, tropical and sweetly floral.
When is the best time to use leaving a trail behind?
Diffuse it in a room, or mix a roller to dab on your wrists (diluted in a carrier oil).
