History

MNA stands for methyl nonyl acetaldehyde, the old name of 2-methylundecanal. It has 12 carbons but is branched, unlike "C-12 lauric" (dodecanal), which is straight-chain.

In perfumery

Gives a sparkling, cold lift in aldehydic accords; pairs with incense, woods and white florals. Overdosing easily turns heavy and waxy.
