History

Decanal is the ten-carbon aliphatic aldehyde. It belongs to the aliphatic aldehyde series that Chanel N°5 (1921, Ernest Beaux) turned into a style of its own.

In perfumery

A key part of reconstructed citrus peel and of aldehydic accords. Also present naturally in coriander leaf and orange peel.
