Safety

Suspected hepatotoxic · Avoid in pregnancy

Dill apiole is sensitive to decomposition during storage. Direct toxicity data are sparse, but structural similarity to parsley apiole suggests comparable hepatotoxicity and pregnancy risk.

Genotoxicity. Dill apiole shows very low genotoxic activity in DNA binding assays.

Carcinogenicity. Not carcinogenic in male mice given four pre-weaning intraperitoneal injections.

Reproductive. No direct reproductive toxicity data. Due to structural similarity with parsley apiole, the compound is considered contraindicated in pregnancy.
