Blend recipes · Easy breathing

surviving the damp season

4 oils · Citrus · Floral · Herbal · Minty · code BL-2047

During the damp season in northern Vietnam, when the walls literally sweat, you need a really airy scent: four drops of icy peppermint, two drops of cheerful sweet orange, and lavender and eucalyptus at two drops each to make the air clean and soft. Great for bedrooms or living rooms on humid days. Ten drops for the diffuser; running a dehumidifier and closing the windows will make it even more comfortable.

How it unfolds

On opening. Peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); sweet orange (ripe, sweet, cheerful and round); eucalyptus (strong, cool and wide open) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Method

Diffuser
Peppermint 4 · Sweet Orange 2 · Lavender 2 · Eucalyptus 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.

Peppermint 2 · Sweet Orange 1 · Lavender 1 · Eucalyptus 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Peppermint 12 · Sweet Orange 6 · Lavender 6 · Eucalyptus 6 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use surviving the damp season in a diffuser?
Add Peppermint 4 · Sweet Orange 2 · Lavender 2 · Eucalyptus 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of peppermint?
Swap peppermint for spearmint — same minty family. The blend will shift a little: spearmint is sweet and cool, softer than peppermint, with a hint of chewing gum.
When is the best time to use surviving the damp season?
Use it in closed rooms, on humid days, in monsoon season or after long hours of air conditioning — diffuse in short 20–30 minute runs.
