spice for the north wind

3 oils · Woody · Warm spice · code BL-2755

Sandalwood sets a base of smooth wood, warm like milk, cinnamon adds bold spice, and a drop of patchouli lays in damp earth. Warm and deep, good for the living room or bedroom when the cold north wind rattles the doors. Start the diffuser as you close up for the evening; for more spice, add 1 drop of cinnamon.

How it unfolds

As it settles. Cinnamon (spicy-sweet, hot and warm) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. Sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting); patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Sandalwood 4 · Cinnamon 2 · Patchouli 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Sandalwood 3 · Cinnamon 1 · Patchouli 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Sandalwood 17 · Cinnamon 9 · Patchouli 4 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

Safety

Skin irritant

Cinnamon can irritate skin — dilute well and patch-test on a small area first.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use spice for the north wind in a diffuser?
Add Sandalwood 4 · Cinnamon 2 · Patchouli 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of sandalwood?
Swap sandalwood for cedarwood or cypress — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use spice for the north wind?
Made for chilly days, cold rain, Tet (the Lunar New Year) and Christmas; use it in the living room or bedroom.
