To make sure your first time being on time isn't the last, try the trio of lemongrass, peppermint and rosemary. Lemongrass jumps out first, like a handful of freshly bruised stalks, peppermint carries on the cool, and rosemary leaves a tidy herbal base. Suits the bathroom or entryway as you get ready to leave. Tip: put 2 drops on the floor of the shower before running the hot water, and the steam will handle the rest.

On opening. Lemongrass (fresh, green and clean); peppermint (cool, sharp and clean); rosemary (cool, green, herbal and invigorating) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Lemongrass can irritate skin — dilute well and patch-test on a small area first.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
