Blend recipes · Stress relief

in need of a hug

4 oils · Floral · Herbal · Woody · code BL-0727

Some days the need for a hug runs high. Six drops of lavender make a soft floral base, holy basil adds warm, spicy leaf, cypress lines it with green needles, and a single drop of Roman chamomile brings sweet apple. Good for the bedroom on cold nights, hugging your pillow tight. Holy basil is fairly strong, so in a small room cut it to three drops for a softer scent.

How it unfolds

As it settles. Lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing); holy basil (warm and spicy with a clove-like edge); cypress (fresh, dry and clean like conifer wood); Roman chamomile (like ripe apple and dry hay, soft and mellow) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.

Safety

Skin irritant

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use in need of a hug in a diffuser?
Add Lavender 3 · Holy Basil 2 · Cypress 2 · Roman Chamomile 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of lavender?
Swap lavender for geranium or ylang ylang — same floral family. The blend will shift a little: geranium is green and rosy, fresh and balanced.
When is the best time to use in need of a hug?
Turn it on when your head feels tight: before a meeting, after a long day, or when you need a few minutes to settle.
