History

Trimofix O is made by reacting trimethylcyclododecatriene with acetic anhydride, so it is a mixture of reaction products rather than a single molecule. The starting material, 1,5,10-trimethyl-1,5,9-cyclododecatriene (C15H24), is a cyclic trimer of isoprene.

In perfumery

Trimofix O is used as an inexpensive dry woody base in fragrance and household products.
