History

Nonanal is the nine-carbon aliphatic aldehyde; the trade name "aldehyde C-9" is accurate. It occurs in rose oil, citrus peels and many leaves.

In perfumery

Adds a clean note to aldehydic accords and rounds synthetic rose. Very strong; usually handled as a dilution.
