History

trans-2-hexenal is formed by plants as soon as leaves are damaged, together with cis-3-hexenol. It is part of the smell of freshly cut grass.


In perfumery

Used in traces for fresh green lift in fruit and leaf accords. Tightly limited by both IFRA and the EU.
