Safety

(E)-Geranyl formate is the formate ester of geraniol, occurring mainly in geranium oil.

Skin. A 2 percent patch test on 25 volunteers produced mild irritation but no sensitization. Applied undiluted to rabbit skin for 24 hours, it was non-irritating. In guinea pigs at 20 percent in a modified Draize, it was non-sensitizing.

Oral and dermal. Acute oral LD50 in rats exceeds 6 g/kg. Acute dermal LD50 in rabbits exceeds 5 g/kg.
