History

Acetyl cedrene is made by acetylating the cedrene fraction of Virginia cedarwood oil. Vertofix is IFF's trade name. The product is a mixture whose composition depends on the cedarwood oil source.

In perfumery

Acetyl cedrene is a workhorse woody material in masculine, fougère and chypre fragrances as well as soap. It acts as a dry woody fixative.
