A big-batch recipe for making your own spray to use over time. Geranium and citronella lead equally, green rose blending with bold grass; lemon eucalyptus and lavender keep the middle cool and soft, and rosemary adds a sharp finish. Great for the whole family to mist curtains, mosquito nets and pant hems before dusk. Mix with distilled water and a little alcohol, shake well each time, and use it up within about two weeks.

On opening. Citronella (strong, green and slightly lemony); lemon eucalyptus (green, lemony and cool, a little like lemongrass); rosemary (cool, green, herbal and invigorating) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.
As it settles. Geranium (green and rosy, fresh and balanced); lavender (floral-herbal, clean and soothing) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.
What remains. With no woody or resin base note, this blend fades fairly quickly — switch it on again after 1–2 hours to keep the room scented.
Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.
