grades going up

3 oils · Herbal · Woody · code BL-1087

Grades on the rise; this semester's ending will be different. Four drops of eucalyptus open cool, airy, and clear, three drops of basil add a sweet, peppery green, and two drops of cedarwood keep a steady dry wood base. Great for a study desk or home library. If you study in the evening, cut eucalyptus to three drops.

How it unfolds

On opening. Eucalyptus (strong, cool and wide open) rises first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

As it settles. Basil (sweet and green with a hint of anise) forms the body of the scent and stays longest in the room.

What remains. Cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Eucalyptus 4 · Basil 3 · Cedarwood 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Eucalyptus 2 · Basil 2 · Cedarwood 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Eucalyptus 13 · Basil 10 · Cedarwood 7 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use grades going up in a diffuser?
Add Eucalyptus 4 · Basil 3 · Cedarwood 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of eucalyptus?
Swap eucalyptus for rosemary or tea tree — same herbal family. The blend will shift a little: rosemary is cool, green, herbal and invigorating.
When is the best time to use grades going up?
Run it at your desk or study corner in cycles of 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, so your nose does not tune the scent out.
