History

Velvione is a 16-membered ring ketone with one double bond, part of the newer generation of macrocyclic ketone musks. The name reflects the smooth, soft texture its maker aimed for.

In perfumery

Velvione is used to add smoothness and warmth to the base and suits powdery floral and woody accords. It can partly stand in for musks with an ambrette-seed character.
