History

10-undecenal is made from undecylenic acid, a pyrolysis product of castor oil. The terminal double bond makes it brighter and more diffusive than undecanal.

In perfumery

One of the most familiar aldehydes of the classic aldehydic style; also used in soap and fabric softener for a clean effect.
