History

Sandela belongs to the first generation of synthetic sandalwoods, terpenyl cyclohexanols carrying a camphene-derived isocamphyl group. The product is an isomer mixture in which only some isomers carry a clear sandalwood odor.

In perfumery

Sandela is used as an inexpensive sandalwood base and fixative in soap and fragrance.
