Rose oxide exists as four isomers, all found in geranium oil. Limited data on the laevo form indicate the compound is safe at standard concentrations.

Skin. Undiluted material was moderately irritating in a 24-hour rabbit patch test. At 2 percent on human skin it was neither irritating nor sensitizing.

Oral. Acute oral LD50 in rats was 4.3 g/kg. Acute dermal LD50 in rabbits exceeded 5 g/kg.
