History

Helional is IFF's trade name for alpha-methyl-1,3-benzodioxole-5-propanal. Its structure is close to heliotropin, which explains a similar sweetness.

In perfumery

A mainstay of the ozonic and transparent floral styles since the 1990s; pairs with Calone and Hedione.
