History

Dihydromyrcenol is not reported in nature. It is made from citronellene, a pyrolysis product of cis-pinane from turpentine. It is produced in large volumes.

In perfumery

The backbone of fresh masculine and laundry fragrances since the 1980s; stable in alkaline and bleach media.
