afternoon sun through the curtains

3 oils · Floral · Woody · Warm spice · code BL-0618

Warm like a streak of afternoon sun slanting through the window. Three drops of turmeric open with warm, lightly spicy earth like a freshly cut root, patchouli adds a deep, damp earthy layer, then a single drop of rose drops in a soft floral note. An unusual blend, deep and warm, one few would expect. Good for the living room on late autumn afternoons. If the turmeric is too noticeable, cut it to two drops and add one drop of rose.

How it unfolds

As it settles. Turmeric (warm and earthy with a little spice); rose (deep, silky and luxurious) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. Patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Turmeric 3 · Patchouli 2 · Rose 1 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Turmeric 2 · Patchouli 2 · Rose 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Turmeric 15 · Patchouli 10 · Rose 5 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use afternoon sun through the curtains in a diffuser?
Add Turmeric 3 · Patchouli 2 · Rose 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of turmeric?
Swap turmeric for cinnamon or coriander — same warm spice family. The blend will shift a little: cinnamon is spicy-sweet, hot and warm.
When is the best time to use afternoon sun through the curtains?
Use it at the end of the day, on weekends, while reading or right after a shower — whenever you want everything to slow down a beat.
