History

Lilial was once among the most widely used muguet aldehydes in cosmetics and detergents. After classification as toxic for reproduction category 1B it was moved to Annex II and banned from cosmetics in the EU from 1 March 2022 under Regulation (EU) 2021/1902.

In perfumery

No longer used in cosmetics sold in the EU. Houses have replaced it with other muguet materials such as Florol, Mayol, Majantol or newer molecules.
