3-Hexenyl formate is the formate ester of 3-hexenol, occurring at low levels in a few floral and leafy absolutes.

Skin. Applied undiluted to rabbit skin for 24 hours, it was moderately irritating. A 10 percent patch test on 25 volunteers produced neither irritation nor sensitization.

Oral and dermal. Acute oral LD50 in rats and acute dermal LD50 in rabbits both exceed 5 g/kg.
