History

Globalide is an isomer mixture of oxacyclohexadecen-2-one, sharing its formula with habanolide but differing in the position and geometry of the double bond. It was introduced by Haarmann & Reimer, which later merged into Symrise.

In perfumery

Globalide serves as a musk base in perfume, cosmetics and household products, often replacing part of the polycyclic musk in modern formulas.
