Blend recipes · Summer fresh

salty but mellow

3 oils · Herbal · Woody · code BL-2913

Not the rush-of-cold kind: sandalwood leads with a smooth, creamy wood base, juniper brings a slightly sharp needle-leaf note like a salty sea breeze, and basil adds a light green spice. This scent suits the living room on summer evenings, when you want the space cool but with some depth. If you need it fresher, add one drop of lime; for a deeper mood, keep it as is.

How it unfolds

As it settles. Juniper (green and berry-like, with clean resinous wood); basil (sweet and green with a hint of anise) form the body of the scent and stay longest in the room.

What remains. Sandalwood (creamy, smooth and long-lasting) sinks in and lingers after the diffuser is off.

Method

Diffuser
Sandalwood 4 · Juniper 3 · Basil 2 drops in 200–300 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then take a break.
10 ml roller
Sandalwood 2 · Juniper 2 · Basil 1 drops, then top up with a carrier oil (jojoba or sweet almond). Dab on wrists and the back of the neck.
50 ml room spray
Sandalwood 13 · Juniper 10 · Basil 7 drops + 1 teaspoon of food-grade alcohol, then top up with distilled water. Shake before spraying.

FAQ

How do I use salty but mellow in a diffuser?
Add Sandalwood 4 · Juniper 3 · Basil 2 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of sandalwood?
Swap sandalwood for cedarwood or patchouli — same woody family. The blend will shift a little: cedarwood is dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings.
When is the best time to use salty but mellow?
Use it at midday, in hot rooms, or after coming in from outside; you can also mix a room spray for a quick cool-down.
