Blend recipes · Bug repellent

night-shift bodyguard

4 oils · Citrus · Herbal · Woody · code BL-2520

A scent that stands guard from lights-on until late needs a solid base. Citronella opens strong and clear, cedarwood adds dry wood, patchouli makes it cling, and bergamot sprinkles in brightness so it never feels heavy. Great for the living room or porch on long evenings. Run the diffuser in cycles of 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, so the scent stays present without getting tiresome.

How it unfolds

On opening. Citronella (strong, green and slightly lemony); bergamot (light citrus with a floral edge, Earl Grey style) rise first, clearest in the first 10–15 minutes.

What remains. Cedarwood (dry and warm, like a wooden chest and pencil shavings); patchouli (like damp earth and dark wood, deeply sweet) sink in and linger after the diffuser is off.

Safety

Photosensitizing

Bergamot can make skin sensitive to sunlight when applied topically — avoid sun and tanning beds for 12 hours after applying.

Do not use for children under 6, during pregnancy, or if you have a health condition without asking a professional first. Never ingest essential oils; keep them out of reach of children and pets.

FAQ

How do I use night-shift bodyguard in a diffuser?
Add Citronella 4 · Cedarwood 2 · Patchouli 1 · Bergamot 1 drops to 200–300 ml of water. In a room under 15 m², use 1–2 drops less; in a room over 25 m², add 1 more drop of the main oil.
What can I use instead of citronella?
Swap citronella for rosemary or eucalyptus — same herbal family. The blend will shift a little: rosemary is cool, green, herbal and invigorating.
When is the best time to use night-shift bodyguard?
Diffuse it on the balcony, porch or in the bedroom in the evening; keep the window screens shut for best results.
