History

Commercial 6-sec-butylquinoline is often a mixture of the 6 and 8 isomers (about 80 and 20 percent). It is the second main option next to isobutyl quinoline for leather accords.

In perfumery

It adds a warm leather tone with roots and earth, used in leather, tobacco and chypre fragrances.
